My working career started in a grocery store where I learned the value of customer service. That experience led me to a successful career managing an award winning government Web site at the Washington State Department of Transportation.  I started working on the site almost 10 years ago when there was a staff of two and the site did not have  unified look and feel.  I helped oversee the site’s transition to a common look and feel, lead the transition to a content management system and have been the lead on site analytics, search optimization and user experience on the Web site.

During the last several years I have been fortunate to lead a social media effort that has won several awards and gained our organization national acclaim. That effort, that I was doing part time, now has a full time staff member devoted to making sure those channels of communication are kept open and continue to grow.

I now manage a staff of five whose primary focus is on making sure users of our content have a positive experience however or wherever they find information about WSDOT.

In 2006 I launched the campain to Bring back the Olympia Stubby, which now has over 3,000 followers on it’s facebook site (I want to wait until there are at least 5,000 before I write the official petition).
